OMHA Picks Predators for Under 17 Final Evaluation Camp

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has announced that 68 of the best Minor Midget-aged (born in 1993) hockey players in the OMHA have been invited to take part in the OMHA Under-17 Final Evaluation Camp from May 8-19 at the Gryphon Centre at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario.

The “Road to Guelph” took place April 17-19, with 9 Predators being among the 68 players to attend the Regional Evaluation Camp in Collingwood. The players participated in:

  • 1 practice Friday, prior to round-robin games
  • 3 game round robin games, with game #2 being a 3-on-3 Pond Hockey game
  • Full fitness testing and evaluation under the supervision of Master Course Conductors from the OMHA Trainers Program
  • Selected guest speakers on career options, fitness and nutrition, and education

The Predators who attended the Collingwood Camp were:

Knicholas Dawe Penetanguishene Goalie
Jarret Kup Rosseau Defence
Michael O’Brien Christie Township Defence
Tyler Marchand Penetanguishene Defence
Caleb Cameron Sundridge Forward
Kristoff Kontos Penetanguishene Forward
Matthew Quilty Midland Forward
Trevor Smith Gravenhurst Forward
D-Jay Wainman Sundridge Forward

Dawe, Marchand, Cameron, and Kontos were selected to attend the OMHA Final Evaluation Camp in May as they vie for the opportunity to attend the Team Ontario Under-17 Selection Camp in June.

As Karen Dawe stated: “The calibre of play at the camp was amazing! The boys had a very competitive weekend, and all looked great!”

To have four players selected from the Predators to move on is a feather in the cap for the NCOHA and the Minor Midget team and coaching staff.

Congratulations to all of the players who attended the Collingwood Regional Camp, and good luck to those selected to attend the Final Camp in Guelph. The NCOHA family is proud of your achievements!
