The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has announced that 85 of the best minor midget-aged hockey players in the OMHA (born in 1992) have been invited to take part in the OMHA Under 17 Final Evaluation Camp from May 9-11, 2008 at the Gryphon Centre at the University of Guelph.
The “Road To Guelph” started in April when 340 players attended one of five Regional Evaluation Camps hosted by the OMHA: in Collingwood, Georgetown, Peterborough, St. Thomas, and Simcoe. Collingwood was the Regional Camp for North Central Minor Midget players to attend and “show their stuff.” Of the 68 players at the Collingwood Regional Camp, 13 were from the Predators. Joshua Sinotte (G), Beau Orser (D), Patrick Thornton (D), Brad Payne (D), Keevin Cutting (D), Daniel Clairmont (F), Andrew Parks (F), Branden Eden (F), David Lazarus (F), Ryan Purvis (F), Josh Timpano (F) and Kurtus Thomson (F). Of the 68 players at the camp, 17 were selected to attend this weekend’s OMHA Final Evaluation Camp as they vie for the opportunity to attend the Team Ontario Under 17 Selection Camp in June.
Of those 17 players, two were chosen from the North Central Predators Minor Midget AAA team: Branden Eden, a third round OHL pick of the Brampton Battalion, and Keevin Cutting, a fourth round OHL pick of the Owen Sound Attack, were selected to go to the final evaluation camp.
Congratulations to all the Predators who attended the Collingwood Camp, and Good Luck! to Eden and Cutting at the Final Camp in Guelph.
